Entre Solos: Sowing Connections

An initiative with the mission to enable public debate on sustainability in agriculture based on science. It sows connections between urban and rural areas to boost the goals of the Sustainable Development Goals related to agriculture, contributing to the construction of agendas and commitments that will be taken to COP30.

WHAT IS THE GOAL?

To promote dialogue on sustainability in agriculture and the food chain, based on science, so that food systems can contribute to poverty reduction, scale up sustainable production and consumption practices, encourage diversity and inclusion in rural areas, and contribute to the adaptation of agriculture to climate change.

HOW TO ACHIEVE IT?

  • Dialogues Between Soils: a journey of meetings promoted throughout the year, consolidated in an event at COP30. It brings together companies, civil society, academia, and government to discuss challenges and solutions for the adaptation of food systems. The Dialogues promote knowledge exchange and cross-sector collaboration. The results of each Dialogue will compose a publication containing the synthesis of points of convergence for advancing the consolidation of a strategic vision for sustainable agriculture in Brazil.
  • Pact for Soil Recovery: an initiative to engage companies in adopting commitments to promote practices for the recovery and resilience of soils and food systems.

CONTEXT?

Brazilian agriculture is diverse, dynamic, and essential for global food security, playing a central role in the production of food, fibers, and energy. Its evolution reflects the complexity of production systems in the country, which combine socio-environmental and innovation challenges and the search for greater sustainability in production systems.

COP30, which will be held in Brazil, is a milestone in this journey. The event will be an opportunity to engage the country’s diverse agricultural sectors in building solutions for adaptation to climate change. The sector can advance in the adoption of regenerative practices and the responsible use of land, aligning science, public policies, and innovative business models.

For this, a structured dialogue between government, the private sector, academia, and society is essential, deepening knowledge about the role of Brazilian agriculture.
