Among the relevant discussions for COP30 that will take place in Baku on the 13th, the following stand out: raising climate funds to support the green transition in the Global South, the role of the private sector and how companies can collaborate to ensure that the region receives adequate funding to face the challenges of climate change. A panel will also discuss expectations for Brazil as a protagonist in the global climate finance agenda and how the business sector can contribute to the country taking a leading position in green initiatives until the Conference of the Parties in Pará.
The need to increase ambition so that business strategies are aligned with science and with the goal of keeping the average global temperature rise below 1.5°C will also be debated. Furthermore, ways to enable mitigation and adaptation actions to climate change through climate finance will be explored, ensuring a just transition, leaving no one behind. Several actions are already underway, reaffirming the business commitment to the Global Climate Agenda.

On the occasion, the cases recognized by the Net Zero Ambition, Circular Connection and +Water Movements, which are part of the Ambition 2030 strategy, will also be announced. The business representatives of the recognized cases will be interviewed by Juliana Ramalho, Partner at Mattos Filho, Veiga Filho, Marrey Jr. E Quiroga Advogados, Lia Rizzo and Renata Faber, journalists from Exame. Furthermore, the Business Thematic Notebooks on Climate Justice for the Health and Fashion & Textile sectors will be launched. The publications bring studies with in-depth business sector analysis of successful cases and consistent practical climate justice actions, so that they integrate the strategy and business model, placing vulnerable people at the center of both environmental and financial decision-making by companies. This is a joint project between the Climate and Human Rights and Labor Action Platforms of the UN Global Compact – Brazil Network, has the technical partnership of the Latin American Climate Lawyers Initiative for Mobilizing Action (LACLIMA) and has the support of the Brazilian Israelite Beneficent Society Albert Einstein and Beneficência Portuguesa for the Health notebook, and Malwee and Live! as co-leading companies and Azzas, C&A, Capricórnio Têxtil, Pernambucanas and Riachuelo for the Fashion&Textile notebook.
